RT become nonresponsive when STOP button is pressed

When using RT, when I stop the render modo becomes non responsive and I need to force quit. I initially thought I am just to impatient but today I decided to time it. I rendered in RT for 9m, pressed the stop button and after 9 min it is still not responding. this is on a fairly small scene.

I have tested this on many projects. Is anybody else having the same issue?

EDIT: I usually use DR for RT. I have just tested this again without any DR on RT. it seems to stop immediately.
It also seem not to happen if you use DR for RT but remove the main machine
