  • Vray lights

    Hi all,

finally have some time to post official request for additional options for lights in vray for modo,
this is kind of continuation from my post here: http://community.thefoundry.co.uk/di...4169&p=1036187

Personally I miss this options very much as they give you very fine control over the lighting, no wonder why everyone was telling me that the best option for lighting is maya & arnold.

I'm aware of that you may be limited to what is already in modo itself and how it was programmed but still, I'll give it a try, so here we go (I will repeat the ones from previous post to keep it all in one place):

    - an option to specifies the units of intensity of light / or add simply option to "normalize" the light
    - having an option to control exposure in an fstop value (btw there is an option in Vray color correction - adv exposure mode - F-Stops, just need to be moved into light options ) ),
    - an option to control near/far attenuation to control falloff for artistic purposes,
    - an option to add barndoor/gobo/light blocker to have an option to control where the light is not hitting,
    - is it just me or the look of modo spot light is kind of flat, no matter how do you setup cone angle? I would expect it to look much brighter in "center", something like small area light with directional setup at 0.7+ looks more like a spot light to me. Btw, does "directional" option works only with rectangle shape at the moment?

and that's it, If there is anything I can do to make it more clear let me know.

Hope to see this in vray,

    Regards,
    Peter.
