Crash when creating V-Ray Proxy during Rhino material conversion (V-Ray 7.00.02 for Rhino)
Hi Chaos Team,
After updating to V-Ray 7 for Rhino, Hotfix 2 (version 7.00.02), I’ve encountered multiple critical issues when trying to create a V-Ray Proxy object.
Material Conversion Crash
After further investigation, it seems that the crash is also related to material conversion. If the selected object has a Rhino native material, Rhino crashes during the automatic conversion to a V-Ray material that occurs when creating the proxy. Manually converting the Rhino material to a V-Ray material before exporting as a proxy avoids the crash.
These issues were not present in previous versions, including V-Ray 6.00.00, which was fully stable for the same workflow. It's disappointing to experience this kind of regression in the latest version, especially since proxy workflows are such a critical part of V-Ray for Rhino.
