Render Elements : Ambient Occlusion vs Extra Texture

Hi,
when I change the settings of Extra Texture Render Element with a Dirt texture, I have a real time preview of the changes.

On the other hand, when I change the settings of Ambient Occlusion Render Element, I don't have the real time preview of the changes.

Why ?
