  • V-Ray 5 GPU 3ds Max 2021 fast exit

    Hello,

I am attempting to use the exercise files from this course:

    https://www.linkedin.com/learning/v-...next?u=2125562

The scenes were created in V-Ray Next. When I try to render in V-Ray 5 GPU Hotfix 2, I get a fatal error. 3ds Max instantly crashes. The V-Ray Message window pops up for a split second, not enough time to actually read it. I think it might have said something about Fast SSS.

I tried Merging the scene instead of opening it directly. Same result. It does appear that there is some major incompatibility between V-Ray Next and V-Ray 5 GPU, causing repeatable fatal errors.

    Thanks,

    Aaron

      Hi guys,

Can you let us know if you get any warning/error messages in the V-Ray log and if so, what are they exactly? Have you updated your GPU drivers to the latest recommended ones? Are the scenes rendering as expected with CPU?

aaron_ross, have you tried getting the latest update for V-Ray 5 for 3ds max? You can download it from here. Alternatively, we will need a stripped down version of the scene with the issue reproducible so we can have a look and troubleshoot.

TIWO Design - the same applies - any details and screenshots/screen recordings would also be greatly appreciated.

If you are able to forward us a scene, make sure to get in touch with us via our contact form and mention this thread in the email, thanks! Please also provide details regarding your OS/CPU/GPU/GPU driver configuration.

Same problem here with a 5.0 scene with a RTX 3090 and the latest drivers. I'm sending you my scene via the contact form (ticket n° 331-622-2908  )
