  • Shadow Catcher Doesn't Update with Vray Light Dome / HDRI, or Environment Override transformations - Vray 5 for Maya, update 1 (v5.10.20 from Apr 29 2021)

    Hello everyone,
I encountered an issue where it doesn't update the shadow catcher to match with rotations of the HDRI / Override Environment.
I believe in Vray 4 this didn't occur and the shadow catcher matched seamlessly with HDRI / Override Environment transformations.
Will there be a future update that will address this?

Double-check whether you don't use two File nodes for the Background and the Domelight. If that is not the case, please attach a simple scene that we could test.

Hi, thanks for responding. I used two separate file nodes for the Background / Override Environment and the Dome light using the same HDRI texture, and it displayed the shadow catcher properly, but it didn't resolve the issue with the HDRI transformations.

      Here is the test scene:

The two separate file nodes used different Horizontal rotation, the matte object will show the background image and the environment will show the dome light image. That is why you get the mismatch. Instead, you need to use the same file node for the Dome light and the Background environment if you want to match them. Another way to handle this will be to set the dome light to invisible.

Yes that fixed it. Thank you.
