  • Vray RT GPU load when idle.

Hi there, found a small issue with the Vray RT render server. No quality or stability issue but an efficiency issue.

While using Vray RT on a renderslave with 2 Titan X's I noticed the 2 GPU's are at 10% power and 30-35 degrees C when idle. This does not change when activating the RT render server on this slave. After using it for active-shade though, the GPU's are kept at 50% power load hover around the 45-55 degrees C. This remains the case until the RT render server is closed, at that point the GPU's go back to their idle power loads and temperatures. Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems the RT render server is making sure all assets are maintained on the GPU memory and they are kept on a sort of standby mode. For efficiency and GPU longetivity reasons it would be greatly preferred if the GPU's would return to idle after an active-shade session (or after a set time after closing the session) to reduce power usage.

    Hi,

I've tried different scenarios (1 GPU, 1+2 DR GPUs..) and each time the Power of all cards went back to 10% when the rendering was stopped (actually 20-30 seconds after hitting the stop button). Can you provide us with some more info - driver versions, OS version, is it reproducible with any scene ?
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

      Thanks for the reply,

Yes it is reproducible in every scene I have tried so far. The slave is running windows 7 professional (v6.1, build 7601:SP1) and the drivers used by the Titan-X's is the 353.62 driver.

Can you update the driver to latest available and try again ?
