  • Opening Render Settings Dialogue while Running RT takes a LONG time

I think this has been happening for me and others in our studio for quite a long time but I've never cared to bring it up.

As the topic says, this can take upwards of 30 seconds to open the render dialogue while running RT cpu.

    Win 7, max 2016 sp4, vray 3.60.01

So this is happening on all machines in your studio? Is it only the first time you open the render setup or every time?
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

Not sure. It most noticeable when I'm angry I'll try to find some time to do some testing next week.

It happens each time I open and close the dialogue.

An almost blank scene (1 light and one object) takes around 5 seconds to open the dialogue. Bizarrely a scene almost identical to one that had the 30 second waits, has no significant delay. Very confusing.

While testing this I unhid a layer with an itoo forest object and some objects with 100s of textures and max totally froze up. Not sure what else I can do to help.

Can you create a crash dump with Process Explorer while 3ds Max is frozen?

Will do next time. I tried a few days ago but couldn't for the life of me get into your ftp. Haven't used one for years so it's probably my rusty memory of how the internets works.
