I need to produce an animation, and ariel views for a large landscaping project with approximately 1500 trees.
I was thinking of using Bionatics EASYnat, with the Hybrid setting… I estimate the total scene would be +10M polys though. Would this work ok and render in Vray, or is there another suggested method?
estimate how far you are likely to get from the trees. if you’re staying up in the wild blue yonder, you can most likely go with particle tree object instances.
(We’ve got a similar rig with an instanced very very low poly tree, with a displacement on the canopy)
Also remember that geometry is *MUCH* faster than overlapped opacity maps, so the proxy idea with a minimum of leaves to fill works fairly smooth
well i think what ever you do, trees with that amount of data will take a while to render … ive just done a test with around 7 million and it rendered in 4 mins .. but it was a basic chair model..
There will be a huge difference in the time to render when opasity is involved like tree leaves. With the AEC trees I noticed a big difference when just witting the leaves with a colour comapred to rendering with a leaf map applied with an opasity map.
