I really like the first image, too. Did you use the NaturalShader collection from rebelthink?
Did you use any special Terrain modelling Tool (Terragen, Dreamscape, etc.)?

I like the little people in the first one (Christmas in Australia)
In the second one reflective panels are too simetrical and create a bit of a clutter in the shiny balls which confuse the eye (at least my eye). The other thing is that the tree behind is too dark and dominant.
