This is a set of experimental 3D fractals generated with various software applications for the technical and creative exploration of computer generated abstract mesh creation.
All of these beautiful and sophisticated fractals belong to the quaternion, hypercomplex, cubic Mandelbrot, complexified quaternion and octonion renderings of the Mandelbrot and Julia sets. Some others are based on iterative 3x3 matrices where power series are utilized for transcendental and trig functions. The color treatment for each fractal was decided upon by it’s shape and form.

How did you turn the fractal data into meshes, if i may ask?
Some of them are so beautifully detailed that they look like a very dense levelset, or a VRayIso.
The lot of them, for how they’re presented, is just a cut above the rest.
Incredible stuff, well done!
Hey Richard, those are quite interesting and I to would be interested in a more in depth look at how those were created too. Quite beautiful
Artistically, my gut reaction is that some of the edges are too ‘sharp’ and try to show too much detail. I almost want some of the edges to soften up a bit, something with the ailaising. It’s kinda like I want to believe that these are realistic sculputures and the sharpy-ness take me out of the experience. my 2c
