3d max crash after install nightlie

Hello everyone.

I have a serious problem with 3d max and vray.
When installing the last nightlie max empeso to crash every time I try to open it.
Try returning to a nterior versions and now I can not open 3dmax.

Uninstall vray, could open max … install vray 3dmax and crashes. This happens with official versions and nightlies.

Any solution?

HI,

Try to delete all files (create a back up first of this folder) in folder C:\Users\__Current_USER_\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\___MAX_Version__\ENU
Then install V-Ray and start 3ds Max again.

By the way, which 3DS Max version you are using ?

I tried to replicate this here (Max Design 2015 and today’s nightly build), but without success.
We are checking the dump file right now and as soon as we have any news will inform you.

I have a few more questions about this issue.
Are you using the 3DS Max Enhanced menus ?
Please confirm the exact V-Ray build : V-Ray 3 / 25320 from December / 1st

Unfortunately there is no some useful information in the 3DS Max dump file.

Build vray_adv_31501_max2015_x64_25314.rar to vray_adv_31501_max2015_x64_25320.rar
Workspace default

before the error using one of the latest builds before December without any problem.

Then install a stable version v-ray (vray_adv_31001_max2015_x64_25316)
after that installing everything crashed. Including the re installation of nigthlie that if it worked.

Unfortunately still can’t reproduce it here. I tried to install all the versions you’ve been listed. Are you using any start-up scripts, custom start-up scenes or settings?

Dear programmers Chaosgroup.
After making a very limited research on my low technical knowledge, I could make any version higher than 3.00.08, could be executed.

Yesterday … when I saw that launched the new version and try to install it, thinking that the problem would be solved.

It was not so and my frustration was great … then try to sought a solution … something ramshackle and without any kind of wisdom. Minutes passed and thought …

which if I make an installation on earlier without uninstalling the old version?
This done, 3d max vray ran perfectly and remained installed. The version was correct and everything ok. Then told me …

-and if I uninstall everything and go back to re-install the new version? … Once completed all remained working wonderfully.

I wanted to share this story to another user with a similar problem could have a methodology that leads to success.

Good to know that you got things working eventually - I’m still puzzled as to what was causing it to crash.
