8 Ball

Hi

1st piece of personal work I have had a chance to post in a long time.

Character is called “8 Ball” was built from a sketch I found on the network “common area” at work. Only had the chance to study the drawing for about a week, after which I lost it (just my luck). So here it is, as best as I can remember it.

(yea its got some AA issues)

(NURBS frame, I love Rhino  )

I made it so that it would be possible to setup some form of IK structure within it. Currently working on welding it up in max (atm its roughly 2.5~2.7 million polys) and prepping to render in vray. I want to give it a bit of a worn down gritty look.

BRAVO ! 10 times BRAVO…!

Excellent ! Nothing more to say…

P.S.:
Why did You CROP da image so closely to the CHARACTER…
LEAVE some more space around, it would SUIT Much Better…

Thanks Candelero.

That was a rush render I made cause I was eager to see what it would look like in the dark. Ended up deciding I wanted to use it as a wallpaper for my PowerBook so I made the bot as big as I could in the viewport.

New renders should be ready in the next few days as I complete max welding and polygon optimizations.

Ehy blue, long time!!

Nice work!!

Hi! Very nice robo! Good work.

well done ! i love it !
could you please show me the metal material setting?

Hi

That image was rendered in Renderman via RhinoMan. The materials are approximated by a little tool I wrote for my company, and are from Flamingo’s base set of materials, what can I say, I am lazy.

Basically you build your scene with standard lights and flamingo materials, then set it to export. Then an approximatation of the parameters happens and rib files are written.

I cannot see the images, do you can fix it? I’m curios to see your job

thanks
Neo

Images fixed, free hosting is such a pain… :?

Hi

A newer render of the same old project, this time rendered in VRay for Rhino.

The guys at ASGVis and Vlado have done an excellent job with this plugin - its a must for anyone who uses VRay and Rhino. I strongly suggest users of both these fine pieces of software check it out…

There are some AA issues, will try to iron them out in the next render. Majority of the scene settings were out of the box.

@Candelero: Will try to zoom out a bit more in the next render, if not change the whole scene.

lol back from the dead.. heheh

well its a great improvement.. looks wicked now

nice one blueshift, looks like your enjoying Vray for rhino

God damn that looks sweet!

Pretty cool   !!
IMO I think your last pict need an other environment for reflexions the square vray light and grouynd are too visible.
Regards

Thanks everyone!

It really is back from the dead, I can’t believe how long ago I started this…

The great thing about VRay for Rhino is a great dev team, they really listen to what users say and fix things pretty quick - exactly like chaos does.

Priad: Yea, I am working on putting together a better scene for the bot rather than re-rendering it in the generic studio style setup. The real reason I stuck with the studio setup was because it allowed for strong highlights and contrast due to the black environment (and mainly cause I am lazy), but I think I may have a better solution to this - lets see how it goes.
