We will be using enscape to collaborate with customers and a big help would be able to measure something while in the enscape model. The laptop we use for presenting doesnt have Revit installed, so we just put the exported model from enscape on it.
What would you like to measure? Distances? Can you give us an example on the scenario where you would like to measure something? This helps us to design the feature.
I would find this really useful when presenting too: a virtual tape measure.
I imagine clicking on a face to set the datum at the point clicked, then seeing a measure stretch from that point as you move/the mouse moves. Perhaps with a little read-out display somewhere?
Features:
-
quick toggle units between metric and imperial (I hate using imperial, but some people only think that way)
-
set the accuracy to display (show to nearest 1m, 100mm, 10mm, 1mm…)
-
toggle ‘ortho’ to world axis, ortho to face (datum is set to), free form.
-
tag another point to set a base line and your movement now shows angle rather than distance
-
click to place a flag/marker (I’m imagining a golf flag or similar)
-
Flags will display distances to all other flags/markers placed when selected.
-
Can use flags as shortcuts to immediately attach the measure’s datum.
-
Option to drop a ‘flag’ at any scene, keyframe or panorama position.
Almost every presentation I am asked “What size is X?” or “How far from that edge is Y?” Normally it’s easily answered because I drew the model. Or I jump to the native application and measure it. But if it’s seen on-screen it would give a much better experience for the client.
Just to measure between two points. This would be handy for measuring our product in the model.
