Why for all the life of V-ray’s existence in max have they never come up with a proper color correction node? 3d max’s is forever crappy and I think would be great to have one directly for vray inside of max

It will be very hard to explain but as a corona, octane and Fstorm user, especially Fstorm, i find that they have much better controls over textures, when you try this in vray, simple changes and bam you have what you want
I do understand. Each renderer has its own unique way of achieving things. Nevertheless, investing time and development has to have a firm reason. At some point, we might consider having our own CC node if there is a strong demand for such which could improve significantly multiple workflows. However, our resources are currently invested in other features and improvements which could have a greater impact on the users.
yea Vray needs one like ten years ago, its terrible to have to go back and forth in photoshop to adjust simple textures to send back to max while other renderers just make a simple adjustment and its over. Its weird that Vray all this time has no proper way of doing simple color correction in max. If you guys at Vray do not see a reason why a software that deals with colors does not need a proper node to work with colors lol, idk what to say really, this should be common sense, you guys have implemented so many nodes but skipped one of the most important if not the most important. btw the color correction node in max is total rubbish as everyone already knows as well
I think VRay skipped implementing this as it already supports the built in color correction map( and corona color correction map unofficially) in addition to dozen of other Max maps, while other renderers like Fstorm ,Octane don’t and it took them years to build their own custom maps one by one while their users waited.
with that being said, the Max color correction isn’t user friendly when it comes to change contrast, tint, temperature, green /magenta tint as you will need to use the Advanced mode in Color correction and play with gamma/pivot for RGB for all channel or for each channel separately.
I personally like the simple color correction in corona so an official chaos color correction map would be nice.
i think all the other renderers came up with a color correction map very early on but for sure i think Vray needs their own, its a pain in the ass using other color correction maps with vray, this is a very important feature that can speed up workflow,
anyone here who uses this as often as i do would understand, its much needed
Have you looked at VrayPluginNodeTex? There are a few CC nodes in there. The gui is slightly weird given the plug-in architecture, but there are some fairy powerful nodes. And they work in standalone too.

vray 6 is not supported if i am not wrong
I use them in vray six. I hadn’t noticed anything changed. Out of the office right now, but give it a shot.

Just try and it is support VRay 6…but there are 2 of them, Color Correct and Color Correction, do not know which one to use
Use whichever ones work best for you. There are a few to choose from with various functions. You just have to try them and see which modes you like.
i like this vray plugin node tex, seems to work nice so far
What is nice is that there are numerous options for color correction, and some various noise nodes as well. If you ever render with VRay Standalone (which is what’s used on Chaos cloud, or what a lot of shops, including mine, use for cloud rendering because it runs on Linux, which is MUCH cheaper on the cloud than Windows) these nodes all render in Standalone, and match between Max and Standalone (unlike that built in Max noise nodes, which render close, but not exactly the same).
