Dear Friends,
i have a question about boat’s trail on the water- that foam that comes out from the rear end of a boat when it’s moving, how it’s done and material wise, if there’s any, please do help, thank you so much.

im pretty sure they use opacity maps. Not sure.
Depends. There are various ways. Cleverly used opacity maps as mentioned. Something like Dreamscape to create the maps/mats/waves. Or even Particleflow. The possibilities are endless.

Easy as pants. Get this:

got an example of what that looks like George?
I do, I think. I used it for just this purpose. I’ll see what I can do tomorrow - but basically, this plugin poops a string of polygons behind your reference object, which is UV mapped. So you can put it slightly above water, turn off cast shadows, and apply noises and falloffs to the opacity.
thanks a lot guys, for the info- i have downloaded it and tried, haven’t got it right yet- but i will post it once i get the hang out of it. thanks again ![]()
Also, I recall testing network rendering with it otherwise it would be quite useless! So yeah, that works too.
