About Vray scanned mtl.

Most of the materials in cosmos browser have been scanned mtl. will you support scanning materials in the next update?

Good question…

Hi guys,

No, we will not be adding VRScan material support soon. You can add this request as an idea in the Chaos Vantage Idea portal (http://chaos.com/ideas/vantage) where other users can vote on it and other suggested ideas (one idea per requested feature as it will be easier for tracking and voting) and see statuses (Pending, Accepted, Planned, Released, Declined) on ideas. Additionally users will be notified on status change and added comments.

Alexander

I really have a hard time understanding the working principles of chaos group. Almost more than half of the materials in cosmos browser are scanned mtl. but vantage users are deprived of using them.

VRscans predate Cosmos. Vantage predates Cosmos. VRscans are not designed for real-time rendering. Our colleagues decided to include them in the Cosmos library to make them easy to use with V-Ray. The fact that Vantage doesn’t support scans shouldn’t prevent that.

the link provided for the Chaos Vantage Idea Portal does not seem to exist anymore. I inquired about Chaos Scan materials with support and was sent a link to an “Aha!” page that requires email registration with a third party (Aha!). Is there a Vote page that doesn’t require email registration with a third party?

Hi guys, sorry for the bad link. Here is a correct link for the VRScans idea in the idea portal: https://chaosvantage.ideas.aha.io/ideas/VANTAGE-I-191 You should be able to login to vote with your chaos account.

Best regards,
Alexander

How to Convert Vray scannedMtl to VRay Materials?

This way we will be able to transfer the scenes in which we used the “VRScan material” to “vantage” and easily render them

+1 on this

I use both V-Ray and Vantage together frequently. If VrayScan materials are fundamentally incompatible with Vantage, there needs to be a way to have them converted on the fly to work. Even if there is a way to have Vray render out a Diffuse, Roughness, and Normal map in the background or something. These products are all being sold as a premium package (Archviz Collection) but aren’t compatible with one another.
