Well, from what I can see, people are using incorrect workflows with their scenes and since V-Ray is supposed to be smarter to help produce faster, cleaner renders, I guess you need to make sure you aren’t “cheating” or trying to get the adaptive dome light to do fix stuff which is physically inaccurate.. Until then maybe switch to the normal dome light and wait longer for a clean image.. My thoughts on such things, are that to many people, in a rush to get a project finished or wanting to get a result that is not exactly based on reality or having pick up bad habits over the years…cut corners, do things that are physically wrong, add lights where there would be none etc and while (most of the time) that got the job done in the past, I imagine V-Ray Next with it’s Smarter workflow, was designed to do things correctly and is being tripped up by inaccurate scene setups, using features that while they may have been handy in the past, are not something the adaptive dome light is designed to cope with… Sure it would be good for a few people, if they fixed it so you could bend the rules and still get a good result, but for me, that would just make for a less realistic result and who knows, it could also slow the adaptive dome light feature down, basically making the whole point of having it, rather meaningless. I’m not going to even attempt to correct whatever it is you are doing wrong to get these artefacts, but from what little I have read in another thread on the subject of this so called bug, most of you are bending the rules in some way, doing things that are incorrect, that you have done for who knows how long and some of you are going to have to go “cold turkey” to break those habits.
It’s a bit like someone saying “I can drive as well as anyone else, after all I passed my test. Isn’t that proof enough?”.. . but we all know how many bad habits almost every driver picks up during their years driving on the road, They start off cautious, constantly watching everyone else, checking their mirrors, signalling correctly etc, but as time goes by, they relax more and more, paying less and less attention, driving becomes second nature, like they don’t even have to think any more, then it starts… forgetting to check their mirrors or maybe not signalling in time or at all and their reaction times slow. So while they may well get safely from A-B, every day, just as everyone else does, maybe for years, maybe for their entire life behind the wheel, the majority are still bending or breaking the rules and eventually a few will end up paying for certain habits they have picked up. However that shoudn’t mean we change things so that those rules can be bent or broken by everyone, without consequences, if we did that, we would eventually have total chaos on the roads, nobody would be safe, death rate on he roads would sky rocket. Hopefully you understand what I am trying to say here
