ADT and AutoCAD alternative

Hi y’all

I’m getting hacked off with Autodesk and their charging system plus their bloated (for what we need anyway!) ADT product. What alternatives are people using out there for the 3d modelling side?

I think we will be stuck with 3ds Max so have little choice on that front, but the 3d modelling side needs to be 100% AutoCAD compatable because of our clients. We have been using AutoCAD for the best part of 15 years now, and a change will be difficult, but it is something I must consider.

Rhino could be an option, although sometimes the text doesn’t translate well.

you can always model in max and export to dwg

ArchiCAD is much better for architectual plans and 3d models in my opinion.
but it is surely not cheaper.

but only for modelling, i’m mainly using max. it is 100% autocad compatible, isn’t it?

Max works really well with autocad.

Well, thats not really true, but better than most, if not all.

We’ve tried max time and time again but we just can’t get the accuracy right.

Revit exports to autocad
