I’m a photographer based in London. I shoot celebrities and lingerie
mostly for editorial print media and Increasingly publicity shoots
for TV stations.
I really want to incorporate 3d art into my work as a way of using
unusual and striking locations. I’ve stumbled across your staircase
design (I want one but I KNOW I can’t afford one). The stairs are
great but I wondered if you did any more artwork. Your style is
perfect for me in that it’s REAL while of course unreal; the 3d light
rendering still has an element of surreality about it which would be
accentuated by morphing in real images. I’m rambling.
To be succinct: Are you interested in allowing me to use any of your
3d artwork for inclusion in my work? Can you tell me what software
you used to create these images? How steep is the learning curve to
be able to produce the sort of images you have on your site?

well going on set is actually a good idea. You will have to match up the stuio/location lighting up to your renders. So take your camera and shoot lots of photos.
Whether they are of the location or the models is up to you! ah ahahaha
Sounds like to me that he just wants some CGI scene’s set up … Just see it as a client wanting some interior visuals done. Or just think of good old Blitey and take the cash .. :lol:
well i donno guys, but from the email it seems like the person wants to learn 3d and do what ever it is he/she wants on their own. And by mentioning that there is no moeny involved…that tells it all. I would ditch it.
I’ll get in touch with him today and try and get some more information before making my mind up.
That whole learning about 3d and not mentioning any cash is a bit of a concern.

The ASAI’s web site has some sample contract language that I’ve started including in my contracts. They item that may help you in this situation is this:
• Commissioned artwork and all images made there from remain the property of The Perspectivist until all agreed fees and reimbursable expenses are paid in full: at which time the right of usage of these images is granted to all direct and indirect parties of this Agreement. The right of a specific usage may be withdrawn should The Perspectivist deem that the specific usage is inappropriate or damaging to the Perspectivist. The images of the commissioned artworks are copyrighted and all copyrights remain the property of The Perspectivist.
It doesn’t mean they won’t do something unwanted with your image, but at least you have some legal recourse if they do. Pursuing such action would be tough I imagine though.
I would be cautious walking in to this one, it sounds to be good if he is a serious photographer. But dont do it for nothing and I would get some money up front if he is serious about hiring you to do some scenes for you. Here the “cheep” Photogrpahers charge about $1500 for 1/2 day shoot and if this guy is actually shooting celebrities and the like then he is prob getting alot more than that. Im not saying to gouge him and get greedy because that will ALWAYS come back and bite you in the ass, but on the same note dont let him talk you in to doing it for peanuts either as with most of his photos he prob retains the rights to the photos as thats what they do here most of the time. Back on the money thing, draw up a contract (mite want a lawyer to have a look at it) and I would ask for %50 up front, I do that with ALL my clients and 99% of them have no problem with that. I do that so if they try to screw me which seems to be happening alot lately then a good chunk of my labor is still covered and I can eat that month
Anyway Id be curious to hear what the result is, either way good luck and congrats if it goes good for you…
way way way back when when the World Wide Web was a new idea, I was asked to help someone to make their website. It was for a playboy model that wanted some internet “exposure.” It was not an x-rated site, more of a meet the model site. In the end, it ended up biting me in the ass, and I never got paid. But it was fun to ride around in a limo with her picking out picture to use after a “power lunch.” aaaaaah the 90s…
