I think this might be related to an issue we have already logged which is that a sim in Maya Mesh mode can’t render motion blur. Will look into it and get back to you.
Ok thanks,I see that this has been logged before as an issue, any idea if this will be fixed anytime soon, as due to deadlines this is quite a big thing now to get motion blur on alembics for me??
In the mean time, if i have to use the actual container to render out, can you apply vray object properties to it, and generate multimatte id properties?
Hey there,
you can place the simulator inside a group and add Object ID attributes to that group. You can then specify the ID in the MultiMatte element.
If i have a clean container and iv loaded in a cached file into it, is there a way of making a phxlight_set, as the one that came in with the container got deleted so i need to make another to light link??
Also, when trying to use maya light linking the container doesnt show up in the relationship editor?? How can i light link?
Any development on getting the motion vector info across to maya mesh???
Hey there, the phxlight_set is used only for the GPU Preview in your viewport. It is not, strictly speaking, a way to link lights to your simulator.
If you want to get it back, here’s what you need to do:
1. Create a new set from the Create → Sets → Set menu. Name it phxlight_set1, for example.
2. Paste the following command into the MEL script window below your viewport:
By the way, it’s very convenient to preview those connections in the Maya’s Node Editor.
Now, to only link specific lights to your container, here’s what you need to do:
1. Create a new set from the Create → Sets → Set. Name it whatever you want - I’ve named mine phx_set.
2. Middle Mouse button drag the Phoenix container into this set
