Is it possible to use a Dualshock 4 for control input?

If I were to use an XBOX controller is the movement speed incremental in relation to analog input from the thumb stick? For example, could I walk very slowly by just barely moving the stick?
@JQuick exactly. And you can move even faster if you press down the thumb stick in addition to moving it.
