Ambient Occlusuin - side effects

Here are two bad side effects only apparent when using AO:

In this image the lights - generate a negative light

In this one the light has a dark halo between the light and wall

the the only difference between both images is that the interior one has a shutter speed of 80 and the exterior of 100.

EDIT: After turning AO off it lingers but it wasn’t apparent prior to using SP3
Could it bee due to using photometric lights ?
or using the VrayLightMtl direct lighting ?

I would be very cautious to use AO in interriors.

BUT AO is most “appreciated” in interiors…

This doesn’t answer your question at all (this should probably be in the problems section) but I tend to agree with MA. At least do it in extratex and comp it in after.

I am not sure thayt the reason is AO but those black areas only appeared AFTER I switched the AO ON ans worse - they did not vanish after Turning it OFF…
