Ati’s aren’t that bad, anyways, it sounds like AMD is moving towards a cel architecture, like the ps3, so they want the gpu stuff to include in it,
I think ATI has been tanking the last couple years. Personal opinion - I just kept hearing about drive issues on some of their cards.

I made a rule for my self, always go with nvidia product, even if its less powerful then ati, it will be always more stable.
hmm, dunno, I have a few of both, all of them crash and need plenty of cooling. The ATI’s I have to say are able to recover from crashes that would require a reboot with the nvidias. For workstation cards I do prefer the quadros though.

My first computer back in 1981 was an Apple II plus clone with a whooping 48K of ram, no hard drive, 5 1/4 floppy drive and colour; yes colour, monitor! I later upgraded to 64K, (bought a 16K ram expansion card for $110; ouch!).
