An Ivy Generator

Kewl generator
http://graphics.uni-konstanz.de/~luft/ivy\_generator/

that is cool, thanks for the heads up

That is TOO cool!!!

Sure you have to export/import OBJ files.. but hey if it looks good its worth it.

Great find. Thanks for the link.

yeah thx for sharing 8)

looks gr8!
downloading rite now!
thanx!

looks cool but couldn’t import any obj geometry,
does it work for you ?

No it doesn’t work, the viewport woun’t update

ern

It works here. I imported a tree and used this to create ivy growing on
it.

Also, I found that I had to export the model from max at o,o,o to see it in
the viewport of the ivy generator.

Well if your coordinates are not set at 0,0,0 you can always rotate the viewport of the generator

the shortcuts for the camera movement is in the readme.txt

Is it just me or is the work flow\interface and navigation logic absolutely horrific?

I just stumbled onto this program. It looks very cool.
What is the easiest way to export/import OBJ files from Max?
Is there a simple freeware utility out there, or do I need to get my hands on Solids works to do this?

in the past i used the habware plugins and they worked pretty good.

-MAX2OBJ
-OBJ2MAX

http://www.habware.at/duck6.htm

they are written for max6, but might work also with newer versions.

-oconv

AFAIK max9 has builtin obj support.

DaForce you’re right!

I posted this from work where we use VIZ
I went home and discovered that Max has this built in.

For those wishing for OBJ functionality in VIZ:

MAX Trial
stdplugs
Max2Obj.dle
Obj2Max.dli

Autodesk FTW

couldnt get this to work. Got the obj in, but no amount of change in the settings grew any ivy.

You need to put down the “seed” first, which is think is down via a double click in the viewport.
