Anima 4d in Unreal - only a few secoinds of playback?

I noticed the 4d characters I load into unreal 5.7 only have playback for about 4 seconds. I’ve read elsewhere that this could be because of a licensing issue, but I do have a pro license for Anima. I even have Anima open at the same time confirming my license is activated. Is there some secret setting to make sure my license is activated inside Unreal Engine?

Quick update: I continued to work on the project including a few re-imports and a reboot and something along the way fixed it.

Same here! The 4D Characters only seem to be working for about 2 seconds… I’m using UE 5.6.1 and rendering the sequence using MRQ.
But I still haven’t found a solution for this on my end and it is getting so frustrating I wanted to give it a legit try for a future project but could not seem to be able to make it work!

Hi Johny!

Welcome to the forum

Ben reached out through the Chaos Help Center and we recommended him to re-import the Anima project after restarting UE and overwriting the existing actors. That should fix any possible temporal issue that could happen with the license when using the UE plugin.

If the issue persists after that, we will need to check the status of your user account and license to confirm everything is okay. Therefore, please reach out again through the Help Center and open a ticket by filling the form available in the link below:

Adding on to this: it appears the only thing that fixes the problem is re-importing the Anima scene.

I noticed that the 4d content goes back to only working for a few seconds if I quite out of UE and open it again later. The only fix is to re-import the Anima scene. Then it will continue to work until you quit and re-open UE again.

This is a pain since I need to move the Anima content away from the origin in this project, so every time I re-import, I need to move the content again.

@albert_alomar Is there a way to submit this as an official bug? it seems to be consistent.

Hi @BHurlbut-WRA

We confirm we have been able to consistently replicate an issue similar to the one described here in our testing environment. As far as we can see, it happens after using Anima in UE for a while, then closing UE, then re-opening it again, and loading once again a project with Anima content.

That said, we confirm it only happens when using the Anima plugin in UE, not in the other DCC applications (3dsMax / Cinema4D).

Reimporting the scene fixes it, but that may take a considerable time depending on the size of your scene. Instead, we recommend opening and closing the Anima Drop panel. That should also fix the issue whenever it appears, and it is a quicker alternative to re-importing everything. No need to actually drop a model in UE, just open and close the Drop panel and that should fix the 4s animation issue, at least until UE is closed and reopened again.

I have sent a report to the Anima Dev Team regarding this issue (AN-1324), and they are already working on it. We expect to include a fix for this in the upcoming Anima version, which is planned to be released in the following weeks.

Thank you all for reporting this and for the feedback provided, we appreciate it.

Hi everybody!

Just a heads up that the new Anima 7 is out already, and it includes a fix for this issue with the license activation in UE.

Feel free to try it out and provide feedback if still you have any issues.

I can confirm that this issue is still persisting as of today even on the Latest Chaos Anima 7 which I reinstalled today.

Hello @Abhi_Jeet

Welcome to the Chaos forum

Please keep in mind that the 4 seconds limitation will still apply if there are no Anima licenses available for your device when loading Anima content inside Unreal Engine.

We have tested this issue multiple times in different devices using Anima 7.0.0, and we cannot replicate the problem that happened in previous versions where the limitation was sometimes applied even with a valid license available.

Can you please describe a step-by-step process or perhaps share a video of your screen where we can see how to reproduce this problem using version 7.0.0 and having an Anima license assigned to your device?

Thanks in advance for your collaboration.
