I made an animation showing the changing properties of brushed steel when the viewing angle changes. You can download it here.
(DivX 5.02 codec / approx. 1.5MB)
look very nice !!!
is this an anisotropic relfection?
hey ! nice test…
i guess you put a falloff fresnel map on the glossy slot ?
but no falloff on the reflexion slot or just a subtil one ?
Am i right?
You must definatelly share this material! 8)
you dont need a falloff in the glossy slot. by definition, the anistropic reflection does this anyways.
Gijs:
Thats awesome.
You gotta share the material or atleast a screenshot of the material settings ![]()
It took me quite some time to achieve the desired result as in the animation. If you look at fine brushed steel, you can see that the reflection is blurred mainly in one direction, but also it seems to have an almost clear reflection on top of that. The blurry part is done with anisotropic blurry reflection. That was put into a blend material and blended with a normal reflective material.
To create the transition effect, the blurry material has a fallof map in the reflection glossy slot.
you can download the material
