Animation flickering with corona scatter

Hi all, I’m making a simple animation of a building, and when I use corona scatter, it flickers because on some frames the plants are rendered in a different position. You can see what I mean in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TI25YzFNyU

What am I doing wrong? Or is this a known limitation of corona scatter?

I’m using Corona 6 on 3ds Max 2020. I’ve already tried to enable the ‘temporal consistency’ setting, but that didn’t change anything.

This shouldn’t happening, i’m moving the topic to bug reporting board. You may also want to open a support ticket. If you’ll do this, don’t forget to provide the link to this topic.

Hi assifv, romullus is right - this is strange. Please, do you use Corona 6 Hotfix 1? If not, can you try that to see if it helps? In Hotfix 1 there were some fixes related to behavior of Corona Scatter in similar cases.

Hi Mike, I’m using the default Corona 6, not the hotfix. I will install it today and make a new test animation. I’ll let you know if that fixes it.

I’ve rendered a new animation with Hotfix 1 installed, but the flickering still occurs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCmJG_JZXJw

I wil also file a bug report and mention this topic.

Hi, OK thanks. We will look into it. I will ask our support to get in touch with you.

This is highly likely a bug and it has to do with the distribution object “Line Distance”, converting it into a single-face editable poly instead of a spline, seems to resolve the flicker. Thanks for reporting this we are looking into it further.

Thanks, this fixes my problem for now, hopefully it can be fixed in a future release of Corona Renderer.
