So I’m trying to make this work. I’ve read in several places that I can use rigged anima people in an animation rendered in Vantage, but I have to use Live Link, my question is, how do I render an animation using live link? Thanks!
Hi mruiz79,
You have to use the “Render animation in Chaos Vantage” button from the Vantage toolbar inside 3ds Max: Chaos Vantage
Best regards,
Alexander
Hi Alexander,
Could we have the “Render animation in Chaos Vantage” button inside Maya as well?
Thank you.
Hi sersia,
I will inform the V-Ray for Maya team about your request and will let you know when there is some development.
Best regards,
Alexander
Hi Alexander,
Thank you for reply. ![]()
Hi!
Can we have animation live link support for cinem 4d? its been missing for a while and most of the c4d users do animations ![]()
@Alexander.Atanasov Hello!, any updates for the “Render animation in Chaos Vantage” button for Maya?
Hi david_enedy,
Nothing new to report currently. Will try to bump the priority.
Best regards,
Alexander
Thank you @Alexander.Atanasov for the quick reply! This functionality would be amazing for us.
Is there something special that max is doing that it is able to make the render animation with live link work that we can hack to do the same thing in maya while waiting for it to be an officially integrated feature?
The Vantage integration in Max uses a script to advance through the animation. Even a single frame offline render is started through a special command that is not part of V-Ray. Without specific Vantage integration, V-Ray plugins can only start Live link, since this is just local DR and does not require additional coding.
It’s very frustrating to be able to scrub the timeline in Maya and see it change in vantage and not be able to save it.
Thanks Nikola. So it is some sort of proprietary integration? Can this be manually scripted/coded by us (users) in the mean time to work for maya?
If you’re brave enough you could try to replicate the scripts found in “C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\Vantage\dcc_scripts\3dsMax” (specifically LiveLink.ms and UtilityFunctions.ms) for Maya. There are some timer specifics there related to how maxscript works. If you do this you’re on your own, i.e. we’re not responsible if it doesn’t work etc. ![]()
If you’re not a huge scripting enthusiast you’ll have to wait for the Maya team to implement support.
Thanks Nikola. That is all i needed to know and of course understand. Thankfully i have my friend chatgpt that supports me with dumb coding questions and we somehow manage to get things to work together. Life finds a way ![]()
Thank you!
Hi @Alexander.Atanasov
Is this feature supported in cinema 4d? with the new vantage 2.0 release? I couldn’t find it previously…
Support has to be added on the V-Ray for Cinema 4D side. They are currently working on it, so expect it in the next feature update of V-Ray for C4D.
Hey everyone,
Support for animations with Vantage Live link is planned for our next major release of V-Ray 6 for Cinema 4D.
So this is not included in the update for the c4d version that was announced yesterday?
