I searched the forum, but didn’t find what i was looking for.
I just bought vray, and i ’ d like to render an animation with moving objects.
Do i have to use “use camera path” option ?
This is what i do for the moment : 1 Light cache for primary and secondary engine. “use camera path” activated. save file to a specified location. RENDER ONE SINGLE FRAME.“don’t render final image” checked 2 primary Irradiance “use camera path” activated / animation(prepass) mode
secondary Light cache / “from file” mode pointing to the LC calculated in first step. RENDER ALL FRAMES. “don’t render final image” checked 3 primary Irradiance “use camera path” unchecked/ animation(rendering) mode pointing to the first irr file calculated in step2.

Could you tell me if you see a big mistake here ?
what would be a proper workflow ?
everyones got their own techniques. i think its what works best for you and that comes from playing with vray every moment you get and learning all the ins and outs of the software
i was expecting something more specific… my bad. perhaps it’s to me to be more specific.
which file should i point when switching to animation(rendering) after i have calculated all the irr maps with animation(prepass) ? is it the first irr map of the sequence calculated with animation(prepass) that i have to browse to ?
is it coherent to check the “use camera path” box when calculating the irr maps for very frame of a sequence ?
i thought “animation(prepass)” with “use camera path” checked would automatically calculate the irr maps for all frames. am i wrong ?(because here, in order to calculate all the irr maps, i have to render all the frames, not “single” as in LC calculation)
think of the lightcache and irr maps as being three dimensional views of how light is distributed - so you can have two irr maps for a room - one sees the left - the other the right - and to get the middle view the renderer can add the two together to work out how the middle lighting is distributed - it wouldnt be perfect as the more irr maps the more accurate the distribution
you can actually render a view from a new, different angle, using previously generated irr maps - providing they ‘see’ more or less what the new view sees
pre-render irr maps are often accurate enough rendered at a smaller frame size, for speed
