Another interior + staircase: need help with lighting

Hallo, classic european cheap staircase in open lounge.

How can I get more light into a room (espesially ceiling and corners) and avoid to genetate burned areas?
I think it is about adding lights :'(, any help count :).

Model is here:http://www.mediafire.com/?nkc1mjimtmm

On my super fast computer 10h rendering time (res.1200x700).

Re: Another interior + staircase: need help with lighting

Did you try adding a vray rectangular light behind the camara?

Re: Another interior + staircase: need help with lighting

10 hours for that render its to much time actually i did have a computer with celeron 1.86ghz 512 ram and, i learn how to manage time and renders, coul you post you settings let me see how can i help u with that. You have a render that at least 3 hours will be good to go! and avoid using to much subdivision on materials and for the gi use irradiance map as primary and light cache as secondary engine.

Re: Another interior + staircase: need help with lighting

Having looked at the model there are a couple of things I would do

I wouldn’t use rect lights outside the windows. I think this was a technique used in early versions of vray and isn’t necessary now. It is simply increasing the glare.

I would create some external surfaces (paving). This will (in a natural way) provide light reflecting surfaces which will bounce light up onto the ceiling - which is where you want it.

Good luck

David

Re: Another interior + staircase: need help with lighting

Dave, good tips thank you.

There is no rectangular light behind the camera, but there are rec. lights in each window.

*.Visopt is pretty default, but I use IR + LC. Subdivision on material - about 30 each.

Thx dave and david.

very nice wood floor and stair! where do you get your textures?

Re: Another interior + staircase: need help with lighting

did you model the stair?..
recently i had to render something like that, but i couldn´t figure out how to mdel it and i had to go with the client only with the blue print and a sketch made by hand…

Re: Another interior + staircase: need help with lighting

To DaveReyes:
I found links to textures on this forum. The floor texture is not seamless :'(.

To arqestevez1:
I modeled the staircase. If you have a blue print(floor-plan) you have everything you need to model the staircase. If you have no floor-plan, you have to calculate the staircase and that is not funny (quick and easy).
I haven´t found floor-plan calculator(free) for staircases on internet yet.

Why do you need a computer when you can draw it by hand ;). I can model it, but I CAN´T RENDER IT.

Re: Another interior + staircase: need help with lighting

yeah… i had the blue prints, but i just couln’t figure out how to model the shape… 8)

Re: Another interior + staircase: need help with lighting

send me a blue print and a sketch and I will try to model it.

Beatyful wood material jary! your frosted glass material needs more subdivision, everything its nice but come one take out salma from you render, actually she became the focal point my eyes did go straight to her!!! you konw… :). This render have a lo of potential you need quality on your materials and work on the background it doesnt match. Congrats! and keep it up.
