Another Photomontage

helping? A day when your not HINDERING is a good day for me…

haa..haa..haa

:stuck_out_tongue:

side splittingly funny

Sorry to cause the fuss guys, but it is how I feel.

If you notice a lot of us “original users” are gone from this board (save DaForce and Percy), and I feel this is exactly the reason why. I only get 5 mins a week to check out what is going on here, and more and more I end up wasting it viewing (and now responding) to posts like this.

Eric did not post this image for help, he just posted it like everything else he does. Maybe if he would have asked for feedback about something specific and said so in the title of the post, I wouldn’t have been so offended. We all have to make a living, and sometimes this happens - I know I have worked on my fair share of many crap buildings (working on an ugly condo complex in the middle of nowhere now), and have been forced by clients or time restraints to put out something that wasn’t very nice to look at, but I don’t subject you all to it and post every image.

Eric, since you asked: The camera cropping needs work and camera correction (the building is falling over). Add more sky and less street (zoom in), adjust clouds, check the scale of everything, add model details (building and site), work on materials (vray-materials.de) and lighting, photoshop elements have different lighting… what do you want me to say here?

If this alienates me from the board, then so be it. Over my 5min quota this week. Maybe? I’ll be back next week.

he didn’t have to explicitely ask for suggestions for him to know he was going to get some. You would have to be half blind to not see it still could use alot of improvement. I know alot of people post finished work here thats too far finished to really be able to make any suggested changes, but they post their work anyways, knowing they’ll get em.

I feel that I must apologize I guess for wasting everyone’s time with this post. I did not comment before, but now I feel I must.

One: What exactly is the issue? Is it that you feel I wasted YOUR time? I mean…if you feel like it wastes your time…why did you even post at all. I know that work pales in comparison to most, but honestly like anything else, you get better with time. The WHOLE point of the post was to give myself a pat on the back for getting something together for the client in like 2 hours and got additional jobs from it.

And what the hell does “he just posted it like everything else he does.” mean.

Adam…you make me want to strangle small kittens in public…

"what do you want me to say here? " Absolutley nothing more would be fine by me. Isn’t there a mute button?

Eric,

Dont let mr anger get you down…

Your exactly right… You’re here to get comments and crits… Good for you; you got more work…

Im glad you posted!

my opinion is this - if you dont have any constructive criticism then dont post an angered response… unless your DaForce and all you want to do is increase your post count… ROFLOL… Yea thats what he does around here!!! NOT!

@ Eric

The WHOLE point of the post was to give myself a pat on the back for getting something together for the client in like 2 hours and got additional jobs from it.

This you should have seen in the eyes of your client. At least that is the
most honest opinion. What everyone else around is saying , should not bother you, as there are lots of ppl who are much much better than your quality, and of course there are others who are learning.

So, take what you need as good from this thread, and just keep on.

I am sure your next “Image Post” would be considerably much better.

Best regards,
nikki Candelero

here is my take on it:
I usually dont post to images which I feel lack quality. However I understand that often artists are pressured by deadlines, harsh ones often too and which forces them to produce images of low quality, but which are enough for the client.
Now, having said that, I will say also that, when you post an image in the gallery, expect to get criticism for it, good and bad.
My honest opinion about images in the gallery is that, only post very very good images, and dont bother with ok ones, I mean you want to impress everyone right? For this very same reason.
Being very honest here, the image posted is very much below avarage standart, it reminds me of 1998 rendering. Im sure that as an artist you should see that, compare it to some other great works posted here and abroad and make a call weather or not its worth to post such image in the gallery.
Cheers.

hey, for something done in two hours its not that bad. if it was a long term project then i would find alot of faults with it, but congratulations for passing the test with your client and getting more work. dont let them keep giving you 2 hour projects though. let them know what the quality can be like if just given the right amount of time.

meanadam:
Suprises me, why.. with so little time on your hands (5 mins a week you say)… why you chose to waste it making that little gem of a post and effectively alienating yourself from the board.
Only having 5mins is also no excuse for your actions.

This is generally one of the most positive, helpfully, and support forums around, maybe you havnt spent enough time here to know that. I dont know. But in my whole entire time here, I have never quite seen a post as rude and uncalled for as yours.

oh and Eric, no kitten strangling please

I’ve given my fair share of advice, through a photoshop tweak, why this escalated in such an argument, is astonishing.

LOL…I hold no ill will towards anyone…And as far as the model…Well..I honestly didnt think it was all THAT BAD…But I do agree… Morbid your right…I don’t post everything…and Ohh…If I could turn back the clock…I wouldn’t have posted this one…Maybe I would have kept those baseball cards from when I was 5 and I definetly would have bought some Yahoo stock back in the day…Oh…I perhaps would have rethought that decision about streaking the public pool when I was 15…BUT THAT"S IT…

Trust me…You have seen my better works and I shall continue to post good and bad… Hey…my post count has gone up considerably this week…Thanx DaForce…

And I would never strangle a kitten…If you know what I mean…

how about starting a dummy post, where everyone could shake down the anger and everyday stress ?

something like shouting room

M.

Just looking at your login name gives me a giggle everyday and is enough stress reliever for a month…

EricCamper: Do you mind me asking, what kind of classical training have you had ?

The reason I ask is that I myself used to snag the odd freelance gig way back when, and I my 3D images had a similar way about them as your do. After going taking an art fundamentals course at sheridan college (Canada) I noticed a HUGE difference in my work. Even reading up on some basic concepts like color theory, composition and design conepts would help you tons

Other than that keep up the good work and good luck.

Well..that is exactly my problem…NONE… I started out as the CAD guy like 15 years ago and BAM…kinda winged it all. Modeling is easy… Sometimes when you guys adjust the images to make them look better…I actually think they look oversaturated, etc..etc.. I really need to do just that, but of course…time… And plus I don’t do enough of it to begin with anyway…I spend a lot of time refiguring out settings and etc. and then do 200 2D Site plan renderings and then finally another 3D. But I shall continue to learn.

Thanx

Dont worry Eric, I havnt had any classical training either

hehehe…

yeah i was surprised so many people missed the point of the original post which I think wasnt so much about crit on the work itself, but demonstrating how you can get follow-on work by being creative and a good salesman with clients.

I dont submit any work because i dont feel my work is good enough to submit mostly due to working on crap projects. I certainly dont think that your post was a waste of time and it provides an interesting comparison to see where we are all at. I dont expect to see award winning images in every thread because it isnt entirely about who has the best work but a forum for learning. If you think you know everything, then help others !!! (or piss off :P)

So basically, congrats on landing some more work and good job being a salesman. I think photomontages can help any project but when used well can make a terrible building look good - I honestly dont think yours was such a bad effort considering timeframe and what you have to work with

I’m wondering where all the old users meanadam mentions are going then if they are all leaving here?.. or are people just being snobs and think they are too good for this forum now? :stuck_out_tongue:

EDIT: oh yes, please keep posting average work…u need to see the bad to appreciate the good and although all the best artists here have been through this process, the rest of us may have not. Lastly, if you only have 5 mins a week to come on here then you have extremely poor time management skills or else you need to upgrade your 5min/week internet access
