Antialiasing question

I wonder if I could know how works the image sampler, how calculates the final pixel from the “sub-samples”. It uses a special filter to do it or is a simply box filter aplied to the sub-samples taken?

Its a hard question and I dont know if it´s correct, cause Im from spain and english it´s a little tricky for me.

Thanks for any answer.

My guess is that it filters the samples through any one of the AA filters in the image filtering rollup you might have chosen.

Then the “filter size” should be automatically modified to fit the sub-sampling precision.

Another question is if the filtering of sub-samples give a noticeable better quality in final image or not.

I am obviously not qualified to make these assumptions, but I might guess that the sum (result) of the sub samples are filtered through the AA filter and its respective size, and not the sub samples directly.
Hehe, as I said…I might look like a real twit posting these kind of guesses.
I have a sneaky suspicion a certain bulgarian programmer might be more helpfull

hehe I think so
