AO pass

Hi,

At the moment I either do an AO pass using Marc Lorenz’s great VRay AO pass script or using (since very recently) the equally, if not greater, rpmanager.

Does anyone have either an updated script which turns off the exposure automatically, or any other trick up their sleeve?

At the moment to do it in rpmanager I am duplicating the camera and linking the AO cam to the normal camera, and having a pass for each - but this is not ideal.

Or, maybe the holy grail, any sign of it being an element?

Thanks
Nick

After only recently discovering I had to turn off exposure on the Vray camera (most confusing up until then), I now just un-tick exposure and render again.

Unless AO can become an element (don’t know if it’s even possible) I dont see an alternative to two renders.

Is using it as a diffuse mask within materials not an option?

SP2 includes a VRayExtraTex render element that allows to calculate any texture in a separate render element (e.g. VRayDirt for an AO pass, or Vertex Color for a UVW pass etc).

Best regards,
Vlado

:hushed:8)!!!

Great news…can’t wait!

Best news I’ve had all day, altho its only 8:45, so the days is still young! Good job Chaos.

Cool, SP2 sounds the answer then.

Thanks a lot, Vlado

LOL…very true fella. However, everything is subject to change without notice!
