Artifacts on SSS objects with CPU, not in GPU

Hello,

When using Vray CPU mode ( in IPR and render ) - I’m still not certain if IPR is therefore gpu or cpu - There are artifacts when using SSS materials.
See the black areas that look clamped.

This does not happen in GPU mode ( when switching to GPU in the vray settings ) maya, and those areas look smooth and with the correct colors.
I’ve looked into color correction, unsupported nodes and color management and none of those seem to have any effect.

Many thanks for your help in advance

Which V-Ray version is this? I think we fixed something like this recently.

Best regards,
Vlado

Helloo Vlado,

This was about 2 weeks old download. I will check and install a latest version to be certain.

Yes, confirmed it is 50021

Following up on this - @vlado Do you have any idea if this is fixed or still a bug, or there is a workaround? The issue is made much worse on a new project, where black skin and the darker values are artifacting even more and are accutely visible.

Another example

Some extra information -
This seems to be related to SRGB color management. When set to Raw, and then gamma adjusted the artifacts / compression do not occur in the SSS ALSurface material.

It would be best to send us some example scene to support@chaosgroup.com so that we can take a look at what’s wrong and fix it.

Best regards,
Vlado

Ill be packing up a scene for you shortly
