Atmosphere elements on separate renderpass

It would be great and incredibly helpful if atmospheric elements (aerial perspective and volume fog) could work similar to lens effects in VFB. What I mean by that is usually if I need to have full control over atmosphere elements visibility in post, I need to render it separately, which doubles the work, time, disk space for separate scenes, etc. If we could decide in the same manner as with lens effect (create effect result channel with or without embedding into RGB ), it would be amazing. It would give much better control over the final quality and realism. Now atmosphere is being embedded into RGB, which makes postproduction less effective and a bit limited either not to lose or overdo.

There’s a VRayAtmosphere render element that you could use in post in whatever manner you’d like.

Yes, I know. But what I meant was rendering all volumes as usually, but having an option through VFB either to have it embedded into RGB or as separate element ( as lens flare does ). I’m not sure if I’m explaining this clearly

I’m not sure I understand. You want a VRayAtmosphere without it being embedded in the RGB? You can get that RGB by subtracting the VRayAtmosphere from it.

Riiight, you just blew my mind with the simplicity of the solution. In that case - nevermind the thread. Just tested it and works flawlessly. Thanks for the tip.
