Audi TT - Testmovie w Vray

Hi there together,

quite a while ago I posted an image of an AudiTT here, in the meantime I managed to do an animation of it in my freetime, the settings are quite poor and I’m not very happy with some details, but… maybe it’s of some interest to the readers. Just want to share it with you.

Settings were incremental add prerender(every 10th), medium-animation, 50/50 and adaptive sub with -1/2. Rendertimes per frame from 5 min to 20 min depending on view angle. It has been rendered on a single 2ghz PIV with 256 (!) Mb Ram, so I think it should be way faster on a 1gig Ram machine.

Polys around 1.3 Mio, displacement on street and the background architecture (for the windows and small details - I was to lazy to model them :wink: - btw a nice trick to fake geometry on urban design topics I think).

My only critics is the massive rendertime increase on displaced objects even with low subdiv. settings - maybe I had to tweak the settings more.

Have fun !

P.S.: Some stills of the car can be found on http://www.formfest.de/english/proj\_audi.htm

P.P.S.: Somebody having a job for me ?

Looking good :slight_smile: great camera moves too.

Absolutely great! :shock:

Awesome render and great camera moving…nice work man!

Compliments
Neo

Very nice job - great modeling, lighting and camera moves…

Dean

all i got to say …is look out Suurland…
very very good…

Natty

Hey natty,

don’t say something like this, suurland is the one and only 3d-car modelling god on Max (at least for me). I was deeply impressed by his work already 2-3 years ago, when I even wasn’t able to model architecture properly - so there is still a long way for me to go to reach his (if ever) accuracy and amount of professionality.

BTW :

Greetings Thomas, you are my evergreen 3D-hero. I linked up your page on mine since I have it. :wink:

Amazing Work! :wink:

Gonçalo

whoa. your attention to detail is impressive.

just out of curiousity, are you guys using video post image alpha and fades? I ask cause I rarely do any animation sequences.

@casewolf
its was a joke …
i am aware of Suurlands ability, and i was just giving you a compliment..
take it as that nothing more.
Lighten up dood.. :lol:

@natty:

was just kidding and very proud of your compliment. 8)

@jujubee:

for DOF I used the f*!9ß0ing <-sorry combustion boxblur-rpf-dof because the gauss seems not to work - I can’t find out why.

Just added some color correction and sharpness afterwards, thats all.

great great job

:slight_smile:

/Thomas

ps. very nice car.

ach herjeh, in koblenz studiert…ich komm eigentlich aus trier :slight_smile:

yes yes, i know…english :slight_smile:

oh, and i can remeber that pic for stadtwandel…can also remember that mr. fehse liked it :wink:

mmmmmmmmm maybe the tires should be darker…
awesome :slight_smile:

@metroberlin:

the worlds too small ;-). Btw, have you participated at the contest for stadtwandel as well ? I can remember asking myself about the priorities of the jury concerning the competition after I saw some results… :roll:
…strange…this is not a complain about my 4th prize !
Are you working for bünck and fehse in berlin ? Needing some freelancer ? 8)

@thomas:

YEAH, I GOT YOUR ATTENTION :smile:
Greetings man ! I love your style and work and I think you saw it… call it a tribute… :wink:
Something I always wanted to ask you, have you ever done something additionally to 3D ? I mean f.e. studying something else or so ?!

Just out of curiosity I looked at the A8L thread and discovered a new world for me - what the h*** is powersolid ?
I will have to have a look on this, 'cause I’m far from confident with some aspects of the meshing function of rhino and the relation between polycount and quality it produces even if you tweak every setting.
Especially chamfers and fillets seem something very interesting to be better solved in the future when importing something from one app to another and rendering it afterwards in a high quality.

I also discovered the new unreal engine that is now given away for free with the editors and I already imported the exterior of my scene into it. If I could just optimize the filleting without painful detail tweaking at low poly rates I could ‘realtimize’ the car…hmm…have to investigate this further.

Going to a party now - have fun all together !

DUDE

that smacking..!!!

very very good, i must say i its almost (as not better) as good as the beatle at suurlands.. cant find any flaws on it.

very very nice
