the topic says it all really.
We have two of those boards, both freezing comp…no overclock all on default, all Asus crap software uninstalled…happens mailny while comp is connected to the network or internet …thereofre while DR…
Asus does not seem to care about customers complaining…
Looks like this is the last Asus ive bought.

PS: got all sorts of Asuses here like P5K and Commando…no problems apart from that u cant install Asus soft otherwise the comp become s unstable…DOH
Maybe a bios update ? Are all the chipset drivers up to date ? Are you using onboard lan or do you have a seperate network card ? If you are using onboard lan it may be worth turning it off and testing a seperate lan card…just to rule that out. Have you tried turning off onboard sound and just using vga drivers for your graphics card…hardware conflicts could cause problems like this.
all drivers up to date…might try the separate LAN card…thanks for the tip…just dont wanna spend fortune on testing ..the board was quite expensive already
Asus quality is not what it once was, in my experience.
Bought a P5n-t Deluxe, and pairing it with an intel Q666 when it came out.
I had nothing but trouble…and the bios wouldn’t update with the first few bios patches they released. Can’t remember the name of the app I installed, but something that came mwith the Asus motherboard drivers, actually ended up disabling my login account password…or changing it at least. Had to reinstall vista.
Anyway, had lockups and blue screens constantly. Turned out the memory timing (set to auto) was the culprit. Had to dig around the net to find the correct values…
It’s not a MB, but I bought an Asus videocard (Radeon AX1650), whose drivers could only be updated with official Asus drivers.
Needless to say those where never updated and had to go with those 2 years old Asus Catalyst drivers, till flashed the bios to make the computer think that it was a Sapphire videocard instead …
In my last build I had nowt but trouble with Asus.. then swapped to Gigabyte and had less trouble… until the cpu fan stopped working and fried the cpu.

I’ve add lot of problems with a p5k premium black pearl edition.. (rev 0)
i’ve buyed this board to overclock a q6600 (vista 64)..
without any overclock, i had troubles to install vista64 (blue screens while install, errors when reading/writing files on disk(s), and so on…
I’ve found on asus forum that some of these boards (randomly) have a sata driver problem, and generate errors with harddrives > 160GB…This is an hardware board issue, and not a bios update issue..
i’ve replaced with a gigabyte DS3R, with a q6600 running perfectly @3.33Ghz, just like a charm (cooled with the really efficient noctua NH-U12P). i’m really happy with this cheap and efficient board…(i would suggest now the DS4R for q5550 / Q6600…
Note the price < 200 € recently for the gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R (chipset 1366 for the i7 cpu series (i7920 ? cheap and seems to have great OC potential)…
I got a new pc with asus board since I’ve been hearing so many good things about it. However I had it for about a week and I swopped it or an Intel board and I’ve never been happier.
I have an asus p5b in my old pc and i had similar problems, the solution was a bios update and a clean windows install. it only happened with 64bit software, when i had windows 32bit installed everything was fine…:roll:
am doing these tests right now:
- rendering using diff LAN socket
- then ill try the same with net disconnected
see if it crashes
- if it doesnt, am buying solo networking card
if it still crashes…then i ll return the board to supplier
i have ordered Gigabyte EP45-DS4, should be stable according to my friends tests…
