I isolated the changing bercon noise. so now I have only a vray color and the berson noise in my composite map. And the noise is different on each slave. On any single slave the noise is identical but every slave has its own version of the noise…
you can see wht’s going on here:
my noise is creating small cavities across the surface. but only some of these are disapearing.
I could get rid of this bug by switching my bercon noises to 3D instead of 4D. In this scene I have a bercon noise simplex 4d and a second bercon (perlin 4D) that distorts the first one. i switched both to 3D and adjusted low and high to get similar result. and now I don’t get dancing noises anymore.
But please note that the workaround works only if we don’t need to animated or change the phase of the noise. Cause the phase is only accessible with the 4D versions of the noises.
I now have a scene where I avoided 4d noises in the bercon maps and I got the same problem of dancing noise… So from now on I will avoid using bercon maps for animation. They’re too unpredictable. Or maybe I could bake them when possible. One thing i like with procedurals is we don’t need uv so it may become useless using them if I have to bake them and create uvs.
Yes it’s like if bercon noise is using a different seed for every computer. I know it’s not created by chaosgroup, it’s free and nobody officially supports it but it’s so incredible, useful ansd better than regular max noise when it works that it quickly became a plugin I use in every of my projects.
I wonder if there is any other commercial plugin with official support that does the same things?
Ok thanks I just added my 3 votes. But I hope they can create one with all the bercon features like the ability to distort a noise with another one to make it feel more natural.
