berlin palace - nightshots (wip)

Something im working on, now I decided to render few nightshots. Still wip  Rendering done with IES lights and progressive pathtracing.
Thanks
Randy

 very nice one,
i think the first one needs a little orange touch to fit better into the image.
but very nice work!

 amazing!, how many lights?

ouch thats so good it hurts

thanks
yes, a little more orange would be better, I think so.
erm, 507 lights with different ies data. I’m still fighting with a more realistic gold material…

WOW that’s a lot of lights! Looks great though. Love the avatar too-cheered me up today.

Do I dare ask what your render times were like?

Absolutly stunning! I too am curious about the render times.

thank you
rendertime about 3 hours @2240x1530 each image, on a x2 4800, 3850000 polygons

WOW …great work dude !!

Man, that is classic… the rendering is not so bad too

That looks very impressive. Any particular reason you used PPT?

I’m surprised it only took 3 hours to render a scene with so many IES lights.
How long did the PPT take? What res was the solution?

Great work.

The third image is great, but what’s going on with the crazy artifacts on the dome? Looks great from in the distant shot; is it thesame GI solution but from closeup?

This is a very patient man!

I would be pulling my hair out trying to do something like this.

Great looking work!

the crazy artifacts are cause by the vray light material, i’ve changed this later to a standard illuminated material to get rid of the noise.
ppt because i only wanted some preview pictures  ppt renders were canceled after ap. 3 hours.
@TRGraphics - soo true :slight_smile:

regards
randy

Interesting, I’ve just tried out the vraylight material vs the standard self illuminated material and with multipliers below 1, they seem to be the same… I hadn’t noticed a problem with noise like the one you found.

What multiplier were you using on the vraylight material?

TRG… Patience IS the word

erm multiplier was about 10, maybe this was the problem  , I’ll run a test later with a lower multiplier.

Hey Man… Great Work there!!!

… great works in your site! .. also…

Marco

Looks great.

Is this a viz of how the “Stadtschloß” might look like?
That is, IF the (completely broke) city is somehow able to fund it.

Hmmn, still trying to identify the spot you took the environment shot from - used to work not far away from this place.

cu mike

half-ot: some time ago i read that because of the sheer size of the original building (which was partly destroyed in ww2 and demolished afterwards) it wouldn’t be possible to build it at the original place in 1:1 scale (too many new buildings around)
is that true?

ps: i can’t read the legend on your frontpage (top of the page) with Firefox 1.5.01 and standard font size - it’s waay to small (about 4pt?)

LOL - they are like photos

question :
how many poligons you have on that scene ?
