Black Mass absorbing entire model

As of the newest release, enscape has started to, slowly, absorb entire models in blackness.. I will attach a video to show the issue and it’s progression. It seems to be triggered by exporting a screenshot. I will do a feedback call out of enscape also so you may check system details. I use the latest version of enscape and sketchup.

Hi @Alyeska

thanks a lot for your report! We’ll definitely have investigate your log files, this will allow us to have a better look at what’s going on.

In the meantime could you please try to update your graphics drivers?

@Alyeska thanks you for sending logs!
You GPU driver is far from the most recent indeed - please update

Is there any particular setting that triggers the black matter (DoF, low/high exposure, etc.)? Or maybe it starts spreading when you start using assets?

Can you reproduce it easily? Maybe you even have a reproducible example project that we could take a look at?

I have a team member also experiencing this problem; he described it as Venom from the spiderman universe. All drivers are up to date. i’ll speak to him and see if it is still happening and see if we can isolate anything that triggers it off and submit a report as well.

Hi, I updated my graphic card drivers today (I thought the geforce experience was supposed to do that automatically for me!)

I’ve noticed the black matter happens in areas where there are lots of reflections and mostly during night time when artificial lights start to kick in. It’s triggered when enscape does a render - either a screenshot or starts to export a video.

I’ve attempted to reproduce it in another model and it does happen there, too, although not as often as in the first model.

I’ve forwarded a download link to the model that is having the most issues. Hopefully that will help in replicating. I find I have the most issues in the pool area.

It’s like a horror flick.

Did the hotfix release 2.4.1 solve the problem?

I seem to have the same issue too across multiple devices

@Strikey , even when using our latest hotfix release? If so, could you please send in some feedback through the Feedback button? Don’t forget to add your forum name in the submission form so that we can easily connect the report(s) to this thread.

The issue persists, at least for me. It happened again just today.

Thanks for the feedback @Alyeska , we’re very aware of this problem and busy resolving it. We’re sorry about this hindrance and thankful for a bit more patience. In the meantime, you may want to revert to an older version of Enscape. I’ve also sent you the corresponding link to download an older release via PM!

@Demian_Gutberlet I am having the same issue with the black mass. Could please send me a link to an older release? Thank you!

Hey @M Squared Arch , I’ve sent you a link to download an older release of Enscape accordingly. Furthermore, @Alyeska , @M Squared Arch and @Strikey , if this problem is reproduceable, no matter in which project, it would be extremely helpful if you could let me know and you’ll receive a special version of Enscape from me in which this issue may have been resolved already. Your help would be very valuable to find out if it’s actually resolved!

Yes, it is reproducible. I was just trying it again with a simple cube in the model and it continued. Thanks

@M Squared Arch , I’ll send you a link to download the special version. You’d help us immensely if you could tell me if this version fixes this problem.

Yeah, I can reproduce this very easily in certain scenes (just tried).

Any news on this? It’s gotten to the point where in certain models even taking a single render has become impossible without everything turning black.

@Alyeska we released a silent new version with some fixes regards this behavior. Could you please try to download it from our website? You can access it via the usual way.

There seems to be various sources for this issue and we’re still investigating.

I have started experiencing this problem.

After saving a screenshot and beginning to move the camera the blackness just progresses and takes over the whole model, as described above.

I’ve noticed it too, start as a small area and grows like some sort of syfi disease over a surface. So far simply waving my viewpoint around a bit clear it but its happened about 5 times for me.

I’m guessing as nothing has changed in Enscape that its something to do with the most recent Nvidia driver., I’m using the Studio v511.65
