I was playing with a new build of the software and just to be sure that old files worked correctly I’ve played a bit with my museum scene ( https://forums.chaos.com/forum/v-ray…scene-vray-5-2 ).
While playing inside the VFB I’ve tested a black and white mood, results seems interesting so I’ve decided to produce a full set of image.
The look comes mostly from the frame buffer plus a bit of film grain added in PS.

I’ll try to make a tutorial about how to get the look inside the VFB!
Some look really great but others, in my opinion, are a bit too blown out in a way that I find just too bright.
As always, it’s subjective, so no big deal if that is the look that is being sought
Yeah I’ve experimented with several tone mapping, some images work better a bit darker, other with more contrast and blow out parts, of course that’s subjective
If anyone want to play with the images I can provide the raw .vrimg file, I would be very happy to see other B&W solutions!
Looking at them again in daylight and they actually do come across really very well, with that bleaching
not at all a problem and in fact an enhancement, so a second viewing makes me change my mind entirely. They look great
