thank you very much..

er whats it do then ?

it does a very sublime onion..

i dont know for sure yet, but as i understand it is a layermanager that sits on top the max layers and thus expands its functionality a bit. main purpose for me is that you can assign alternate materials / properties to each layer and even have layers within layers ( or groups of layers ).

i´d suffer to death without it…it rocks…if you never tried it…do so

yep, for me it the only way of making the max layer system workable and intuitive
absolutely great tool

mike

Dennis is correct. It sits on top of Max’s built in layer system and it does allow for layers to have alternate materials and properties. It was written to work along with our Render Elements script which is very much like max 7.5’s new scene states tool. Render Elements remembers a “state” of max, and because it was written to work with the onion it also remembers what your onion settings were. These tools together make a compositing workflow simple in max. Blur wouldn’t be the studio it is today without these tools.

The bad news is that the public version of Render Elements that is currently available does not support V-Ray. The onion however should work just fine.
