Bug? Renderelements always filtered (also when switching "filtering" off or consider for AA off)

Hello,
I made some tests today (after latest VrayNext update in Maya2018.6)

and found that Renderelements are always filtered - even when filtering is switched off!

Is this maybe a new bug or is something strange with my scene?

Also consider for Anti-Ailiasing is always activated, when I switch it off
(at least there is not difference anywhere in my passes)

Attached a depth pass which should actually not be filtered and it looks to me filtered

Thanks!

Just wanted to add, it occurs also in a completely different scene. So it must be a bug…

Just did a quick test and there does seem to be some problem with the behavior of the filter check box, on the zDepth pass at least. I was able to replicate the problem of filtering not being turned off. It then worked, then didn’t work. I was initially doing it in an IPR session (turning it off didn’t work), then a bucket render (also didn’t work). At some point it then worked again, then with further testing (after trying another IPR) it didn’t work again. I’m now unable to get it to turn off, with a simple sphere and dome light in an empty scene. This seems broken.

Sorry, I may be mistaken as I’m now able to get it working consistently (was possibly looking at the RGB channel). But I noticed that IPR seems to render filtered no matter the setting. Could it be anything to do with that?

Hi,
thanks, but in my case it had always always filtering on (and not only for depth). I also heard yesterday the same from someone else.

I made a CPU progressive rendering (to be able to limit the time).
I will try GPU next time and also bucket rendering.

Thanks, great, so I know a workaround. It was working some weeks ago and it was working fine (as far as I remember), so it must have been introduced with the recent update.

so it must have been introduced with the recent update. No, not really. In progressive rendering mode elements are always filtered (except integer render elements). Filtering “off” only works in bucket mode. We should probably print a warning about that.

Best regards,
Vlado

The warning and/or mentioning in the tool tip would be nice for beginners/intermediates

An easy way I found for me, to be able to see it in progressive rendering, is to set the sampling just down to 1. That’s the same like without anti-aliasing.
