Hey Forum,
I used a Vray Material and activated the bump map slot with an *tif image of a grid. I turned the volume up to 500 and nothing happens on the material.
Any ideas why the bump map isn`t coming out.?
thanks ute

UVW mapping ?
yep
I used a UVW MAP and put it to “box”; fit.
No effect. ? weird.
Is there anything else what i have to be aware off using bump maps in Vray? Something different to the standard use ?
Thanks for helping.
Ute

Only the newest Version of Vray supports bump of indirect light source. Anyhow it looks sometimes strange if you setting are to low.
With direct compt. you get extremly good results…
Ps: Don’t use Tiff it’s a shity format only used by some unsicure Mac-users. Try Targa or better PNG!

I take it you don’t do much print work…
ok ok
Ok guys.
It is working now. After i installed a light into the scene. I didn`t knew that.
Well anyway thanks.
Why is tif a bad format? it stores alpha as well as targas..
Isn`t png a Mac format>
nice work form3d.! happy to have GI, right?

Excuse me. Do you able to draw 10 layers in photoshop with arbitrary amount of paths(vector paths i mean), save all this to targa file, then reopen, and edit some paths or move layers, for example? I’m able to do it with TIFF. Fact, that some software products support TIFF standard incorrectly doesn’t matter, that standard sucks itself. TIFF rocks. TIFF 0wnz j00!
