Hello,
I just figured out that a setup (C4D procedural noise in the “Distribution” slot) used with C4D 2024 + VRay 6 is not working anymore with C4D 2025.3.3 + VRay 7.10.01
Could you repair this please?
Regards

Hey @f2b , the distribution with noise works as expected in our test scenes. Can you elaborate and provide details about what is not working as your expectations? Providing an example scene would also be helpful.
(Note that the difference between the viewport distribution and the rendered distribution is expected due to a difference in noise implementations)
Is there a way to make this work again? It was working just fine in previous versions of V-Ray (viewport = rendering).
Can you specify more what exactly do you mean by “previous versions”? Keep in mind that since V-Ray 7, Chaos Scatter uses the V-Ray native sampling for textures, which also means that the difference in the exact noise is expected. Simply put - when you use the Maxon noise shader for distribution, you will not get exactly the same result in the viewport and the render, but the overall noise pattern should be similar.
If you really need to match the scattering pattern in the viewport using the noise, you can still achieve this, by explicitly baking the Maxon noise shader using the VRayC4DBake shader as parent:
Edit: Note that you would probably need to also use the UV space for sampling the texture (rather than the default Texture space).
Versions prior to V-Ray 7.
Baking the shader works, but comes with the downside of a repeating tiling effect.
