Ok -
I might be crazy, maybe it would be helpful to some; not to others.
The ability to run a script that calculates an irmap at quarter size and then automatically would use that map to render at full size - ie 720x486.
Seems this would help in production, simply a time saver instead of saving the map, changing your image size, set to render image and then hitting render…
just a thought.

Why not just set the Imap spinners one click lower - it’s the same thing. No saving involved.
one option if you are using backburner would be to send a rendering that calcs the irradiance map, and auto svaes it, and send a follow up rendering that is instructed to use a irradiance map from a file, and that one at the resolution you want the rendering at. make sure to set that rendering dependent on the first rendering, and it won’t start untilt eh irradiance map rendering finishes. a lot of extra steps, but it does work.
…but as already said, it is easier to just reduce the irradiance map settings, and send the file.
dlparisi,
could you explain what you mean - “once click lower.”
I’m not sure I understand.

Sorry for the quick reply, I should have elaborated in the first email…
If you set the Imap Min rate and Max rate to one spinner number less this is exactly the same as rendering out a 1/4 size image and saving the imap. For example, if you have a max/min setup of -3/-1 and a resolution of 640x480 you can set the imap values to -4/-2 and this would give you the same Imap as a 320x240 rendering and would take basically the same amount of time.
