It appears that you created this file with the built-in 3ds Max OpenEXR writer and specified “Integer (32 bits/Channel)” rather than “Full Float (32 bits/Channel)” format. Unfortunately the 32-bit integer format is non-standard; nothing can read this file except 3ds Max. Even so, unfortunately all high-dynamic range information is already lost.
I don’t know why the 32-bit integer mode is even present in 3ds Max OpenEXR saver; it should never ever be used.
That’s why I save out a vrimage through the historybuffer, just in case I saved out wrong and I close max or whatnut before viewing it in photoshop/after FX.
