I have now rev 24819 and it seems like I can’t render implicit surface anymore. Mesh renders fine with a scene I am working on but when I render with iimplicit there is absolutely nothing.
Is this a bug that could have been corrected in later nightlies?
edit: well finally it seems to be only in a specific scene. I just did a test with a simple scene and it worked. I will investigate a bit more.
The scene cam originally from Tommi (TSR) cause we a re working on a production together. So I tried to recreate the simulator, load the same settings and resimulate and now eveytime I choose implicit surface, max crashes.
I also have another problem I can’t render the mesh on the network. Locally I can render the mesh, but On the network, I put the network path in output and input and nothing render…
I will try the latest nightly… Or should I try the latest stable or latest released?
In the latest nightly you will find a change regarding the input and output paths - we added the frame number and extension to the path, so if you had a path like:
\\server\folder\ND2_PhoenixFD01
now it must become
\\server\folder\ND2_PhoenixFD01_####.aur
The latest nightly should automatically detect and convert the old paths to the new kind, but if it doesn’t, please give us a shout.
About the update for the path it’s working. Now I see the extension and padding ####. But when I submit for rendering on my render farm via deadline, the fluid in mesh mode does not render…
So I still have both problems: can’t render isosurface in a specific scene. And can’t render mesh nor implicit on the farm.
I was able to go around the bug by recreating my scene almost from scratch and merging element of it in a new scene. I use RPMnager and when I loaded my default pass, it was causing the bug. So I recreated the pass too. And now it works. Very strange…
can you attach the scene that produces the isosurface issue? you can remove any complex geometry in order to make it smaller and just put one cache file to skip the simulation
I already sent the lowrez scene to phoenixfd support. But I think the bug was maybe due to the fact that TSR uses phoenixFD for vray 2.4 while I uise the vray 3 version. And he created the phoenix simulator and simulated it before sending it to me. Is that possible?
Hi Ivaylo, I still have that same bug… Now my helper is supposed to have the same version as me: 2.2.0 rev24967 for for vray 3 and 3dsmax 2015. when I load one of his scene i can just render a single frame in mesh mode. If I send the scene to the farm it does not render phoenixfd and the path are pointing on the farm by unc path. If I try to render locally in implicit surface it does not render. I I try to render a sequence locally via RPManager in mesh or implicit it does not render either.
I will send you a scene with the bug with a cache frame.
i think the revision is not causing the problem, i will see your scene, i have missed your answer and i’m seeing right now that you have sent the scene. apologize for that, will see it today.
for this scene I realize I can render the iso surface in the original scene that Tommi sent me, but after creating my render pass with RPManager I can’t render implicit and on the farm (it’s rendering but there is nothing where the fluid should be. very strange bug…
