hmmm, is the photon engine evolving or has this always been possible? I have not touched them for a loooong time.
It has always been possible, although typically you’d get dark corners where the walls meet - which has been corrected to a great extent now.

Hehe, it’s very slow to get this kind of images smooth enough, and the method I used is not very practical
The light cache is still a lot faster, if you don’t need caustics.

That’s quite an interesting image Vlado. Could you tell me why this is a photon mapping specific feature? Isn’t this possible using other GI methods, such as IM and/or LC?
I know that you can assign a number of photons to lights to create caustics, but can’t you use IM and other GI methods and turn on caustics to get the same effect?

Well, you can get this effect with backward GI too, but it’s going to take a lot more time. This is because the light is very small, and the probability that a GI ray will hit it is also very small.

Hmm,
looks nice so far. I think the caustix could be getting faster in Vray. in my opinion , caustix, are one of the (few ) weak points in vray. complicated to set up and not as superfast as the rest of vray.
but at last i dont use them often enough to realy be abel to judge them .
